Sunny Day
So... apparently Dan was 14.1 at not quite 9 months old. I'm going to measure Funny on her 9th birthday, so we'll see! Or as close to her 9th birthday as I can get. Ha ha.. February doesn't have a 30th this month. I string tested her the other day and she showed as 16.2 to 17 hands!
Anyways... today was a glorious day. I couldn't ride Dan cause he got his hocks injected. So, I decided to take Funny on a pony and then up to the arena. I opted for Fleck this time, so I put the halter on him and the halter on Funny and then sidled Fleck up to the round pen fence and hopped on. She did great. She's a little slow compared to Fleck, who was in fast mode. But she kept in a good position and there wasn't much shenanigans. We walked up to the arena, did a tiny bit of circles and then I got off and let Fleck loose, so that we could go into the arena. For whatever reason, Fleck and Dan decided to take off and were screaming. Funny tried to get silly for a minute but then she decided she was fine and settled. So into the arena we went. We walked around briefly and walked over the ground poles. Then we walked over a cross rail that was only half a cross rail. Then we tried to walk over a cross rail. She picked her feet up in the front but then walked through it in the back. Repeatedly. Doh! So then I tried trotting it. She trotted over the half cross rail but did NOT understand jumping the cross rail. She basically trotted through it. Whoops! We tried a few times and she maybe sort of got the hang of it over the half rail and maybe once, mostly got over the full cross rail. Ugh. This does not bode well for our jumping career! Except I'm pretty sure Dan did the same thing too in the beginning. So then she was breathing fairly hard. Dang girl.. you've got some fitness work to do! To be fair, I was breathing hard too. Ha ha. So then we walked over to the mounting block and I stood up on it. I leaned over her. I even slung a leg over her back. I didn't put any weight on her, but let me leg hover. She was fine. :) So then we did some more walking. We worked on stopping. And then we walked back out of the arena and over to the log on the ground. I wanted to trot her over a solid thing to give her an idea. And it was much smaller than the cross rail too, to be fair. Of course the boys came running up. But we managed to trot over it once. Ha ha. Baby girl was tired! So then I turned her loose. :)

Another Big Day!
I have such a smart girl!!! Today I decided to adjust Funny as I had done Dan and.. why not!? I'm a little worried that her right front foot is getting clubby so I wanted to see if I could help! So... I put her in the cross ties and got started. She was super! We had one little snafu when she had gotten far enough back in the cross ties and then leaned back when I did her knees and she pulled back! Oops. Sorry baby girl. Luckily (unluckily) the halter didn't break and she stopped pulling and fighting and then stepped forward. And luckily I hadn't adjusted her poll yet. ;) She was even brave when I stood on the mounting block to do her back. :) She didn't have a lot going on... both accessory carpals, C7 on the right, and her poll. Also C2P. And her right pelvis was sticky. But she adjusted well and I even got a tiny lick and chew here and there. :)
So then we went into the wash rack and then she backed into it. Yay! So... I took her to the trailer. I walked her halfway up and backed her down and she did great. And the ramp was even a little steep. So we did that a few times and then finally I just walked her up! And then she backed right off! She went a little sideways and stepped off the ramp early but didn't panic. So I decided for one more try. She got a little cocky and slipped and slammed her face or foot into the dangling butt bar... but go on. Then the poor girl was shaking when I asked her to back, but she did. She got a cookie and then we went and got a carrot and loaded and unloaded again and this time it wasn't scary! GOOD GIRL!
So then I turned her back out and she decided to have some zoomies. Hee hee.... I might have spoken too soon about her being so good and so easy. Apparently she is still a bit wild. And she is kicking/pawing at the stall. And... today I also caught her chewing on the electric bucket cord! Hee hee... I love her!

Rainy Day Fun
Ugh... It seems like it's been cold and rainy and miserable this entire month...minus the few gloriously sunshiney days! Between the weather, working 10-12 hr days, and migraines... poor Funny has been on the back burner. But tonight... she was making me giggle as she got drenched and was pissed about it. She was scrubbing up against the stall wall trying to dry herself off. I did put in fresh shavings which she appreciated and rolled in. So, I took pity on her and brought her into the aisle and attempted to dry her off and put on a dry blanket. I figured I'd also pick out her feet while I was at it. Then I found the unicorn horn so we played with that. Then I string tested her. 16.2-17 hands! If I did it right. (I had to use hay string and then tied knots, so I measured the knots). She makes me giggle. She was wiggly but very good about picking up her feet again. And she was a good sport about the unicorn horn. I still can't get good photos of her because she comes up to you, so I had to put her in the stall and back off. hee hee.
Oh, but.... she can be bad! She has developed this obnoxious habit of pawing at the stall wall when I'm not getting her feet fast enough. I keep thinking it's Dan and yelling at him but it's her! She also is still pawing when she eats, but that's more waving her foot around, not kicking it in indignation that her food isn't ready! hee hee..
Hopefully the weather and life will start to cooperate and we can start working on trailering again and ponying and all the things. :)

Still adorable!
Nothing too exciting is happening with the Fun Buns. I have been way too busy and it's been too cold to do much other than feed her and change clothes. I did pick out her feet a few times and she's been pretty much perfect, even for her front feet. She met Grandma Searl and was a good girl.
So.. just enjoy her cuteness!!!
