 Ahhh Funny, you're the best!

She's been such a good babysitter for Dan. Other than trying to pee on him (GROSS GIRL!) she's been a good pal. She's been hanging out with him, mutual grooming him, and keeping him company without complaints. And today, she brought me a bouquet when I was feeling blue. Ha ha! Seriously though... she has been snuggly when I need it. And she's been a good girl for riding. 

 

  

Today was a rough day. Dan's not neuro anymore but super lame in the hind end. And I had the pet sitter coming and then the farrier (no, it's not an abscess... boooo). And then it stormed. So, I didn't really ride. But Mike cheered me up with beignets and then since it was 5 pm, we decided to do dinner later. So he went for a bike ride, so I said... I'm gonna go for a Funny ride. Sadly we didn't have time to go to Ashland but... that's okay. I tacked her up and we went to the arena. 

 

She was super good! She's still trying to chomp her way through life in the walk. I need to try her back in the metal bit because I feel like she wasn't this bad in that one. But it may be as bad. I just need to play and see. But once we started trotting and cantering it wasn't as bad. And she was good. Still very forward. Not sure if it's the whip I'm carrying (But not using) or she just is forward or she really likes cantering so now she's amped? But we got some better steering today and she actually went into the outside rein a few times and was more square and upright in her body. We got some soft connection while maintaining forward! It was great. Her canters are still more like hand gallops, but... that's okay. In fact I was laughing that there was no way we could do a dressage test because a 20 meter canter circle wasn't happening! But.. then it did. And she sort of settled into a very nice round hand gallop. Hee hee. 

 

We hacked back via Jean's driveway and she was out in the pasture with the dogs but Funny was good. Of course it helped that Jean's dogs were also good and didn't bum rush the fence. She got a rinse off and then back out she went. She got a few minutes and even ran around a bit with Lyric right before dinner. She's on babysitting duty tonight. 

 

Ahhhh, good girl. Thanks for being wonderful and a fun and good distraction from my woes.
