Funny's turn!

Today was Funny's turn to go to the Serenity Creek obstacle day. She was a good girl and it only took about 7 minutes to get her loaded on the trailer by herself. Not too bad. No major antics, just... nopes. So I waited her out and sure enough, she got bored and got on. A little bit of pawing but... I don't know that she's gone anywhere by herself since her stifle surgery. So good girl!

We got there and met Sharon and Baylor. She's bigger than him! hee hee. She liked him though and it was nice for her to have a buddy. We walked past everything first and she was bug eyed and on her tiptoes, but she was brave. We stood at the end of the arena and let her look at the wavy tube man thing. That's very alarming! But she got over it quicker than Dan. We didn't get too close though. She walked right through the pool noodles like they were nothing. Although they barely touched her as they were set so far apart. She smelled the umbrellas and weaved through the weave poles. They had added unicorn inflatable bowling pins and a beach ball. She sniffed those and knocked down a unicorn or two. She also walked over the tarp like it was nothing. But fair enough, she's done that before. :)

Then we went into the pasture and she sniffed the twirly thing, she sniffed the dragon. Not impressed. She was a bit spooked at the "lake". Which was surprising. I thought for sure she'd jump right in and roll, but she only put one foot in and then pulled it back out. It was all gross and dirty though. And I didn't want to get my feet wet so I didn't push it. She walked over the flat teeter totter just fine, but was not good on the real teeter totter. She did it like she did the trailer ramp... kept going off sideways. Baby girl we have got to work on straightness I guess! She walked through the criss cross railroad ties like a champ and was better than Dan with the hanging noodles. Then we went bobbing for apples and she was more interested in the donkeys in the pasture and Baylor than the apples. Hee hee. They had also added another section (although now I wonder if it was supposed to be for people! whoops!). It was a kiddie pool that she sniffed and splashed her nose in a bit, but didn't try to walk in. And then a long inflated noodle that she walked over. Then a deflated bouncy house slide thing that she walked all over. And then we walked over some mini dog agility jumps. Which she knocked down mostly. ha ha. Whoops!

Then we headed back. She did NOT want to load. And when she was almost ready... other people came back to the trailer or went out in the XC field and totally distracted her. I tried to be patient but it was so hot and humid I decided to try the crop. That back fired. I barely touched her with it but it made her mad and she pulled back hard. Since I was on the ramp I ended up loosing her as she pulled me off balance down the ramp and she went running into the pasture. Luckily she came back up and went to say hi to Elizabeth's horse and she caught her. Then she did it again and Kirsten caught her. Good gravy. So then I put the chain on. She tried once more and caught the chain and was *traumatized!*. Sorry baby girl! But... then she walked right on. Of course she wouldn't stand long enough for me to get the butt barn up, as I had moved it aside too. She did manage to turn around, so I let her off and we tried a few more times. She kept going in but I couldn't convince her to stay. Luckily Elizabeth had walked by and I asked her to do the butt bar so we managed to get her loaded. Guess we'll be working on trailer loading. And unloading too because she came off crooked at home and almost fell off. Jeesh baby girl! That's not helping your situation!

But all in all a very good day. Despite her anxiety in the beginning, she settled quite quickly and was very brave. Good pony!
