Another "mudder".

Ha! Not really. But we did ride in the misting rain. Doh!

The weather forecast has been ridiculous. It said no rain for the day but then right when I decided to get on, they decided it was going to rain shortly. But it wasn't and the radar looked like it wouldn't so I just got tacked up and rode anyways. And of course, it started misting and then sprinkling once I got on. Oh well. It's fine. It wasn't that chilly out so we weren't cold. And it wasn't that hard of a rain. I was mostly worried about my saddle, but it was fine.

Funny was a good girl. She was a bit fussy today but we had some really good moments where she got soft and carried herself nicely. She was lifting her back some. And she's definitely getting better about carrying herself squarely on all four limbs... going into the outside connection, except.. no connection yet. I'm still trying to avoid too much rein contact because she gets so fussy and gets behind the vertical. But we did play with some very slight contact today and... she got soft a few times with a slight half halt. So yay! We also got both canter leads!!! The left one even on the first try! Well.. ha... second technically but that was only because I tried to cheat and have her trot over the little vertical and she landed on the right lead. When I just asked for the left lead without using the jump, she picked it up. Yay!! We kept it short and finished with a lovely soft trot both directions!

And then tonight I signed up for Amoeba at Ashland next weekend. And realized after the fact that we have to ride Intro C in our dressage portion.. which includes canter!! EEEEKSSS!! I was giggling because I was talking to friends at the horse show about how our fears change. Laura said she's never been more nervous for stadium than cross country until now. I laughed and said that with Funny, dressage was definitely the scariest phase. Ha ha! But... oh well. At least now we have a chance of getting the left lead in the test. :)
