BRRRRRR!!! But also sweaty!!

Today was COLD! So cold. And windy. I slept in and spent the morning finishing getting my new phone figured out and set up how I want it. And then Gargamel jumped on the desk and broke it, so then Mike and I had to reconfigure the office. And when we went outside to get the old desk, I was soooooo cold. I almost bailed on riding with Sharon. Especially because I still had to do a bunch of things before we could go. But, then I decided that I would be mad. And I could bundle up. And I'm glad I did! I found another pair of fleece breeches that are super warm, put on my winter tall boots, long underwear shirt, sweatshirt, and heat reflective vest, and jacket. And my ear muffs.

We got to Ashland and got tacked up and headed out. My ears were cold but that was the only part really. The wind was fairly brutal so we stayed in the woods mosty. We did the "perimeter" trail more or less and even trotted up the backside of Ashland. It was a good ride. We had fun.

Then I went to the arena and did some dressage. She wasn't quite as good as she was at home, but close. She started out quite nice. But then Erin showed up to give a lesson in the jump arena and that got Funny frazzled. She is loud! ;) But we still had a good ride. We had some nice leg yields and played with shoulder in and haunches in at the walk. And shoulder in at the trot. We also did turn on the forehand and turn on the haunches and she was good! We also did three changes.. all on command across the diagonal. BUT... they got a bit racy! But at least we have them. Whoo hooo! We got some nice canter work, though the left lead is still harder. It is better though when I think a bit of a counterflex. Our trot work was still better than it had been, but she got a bit quick and bracy again today. We'll keep working at it!

We walked around pterydactyl lake again to cool off. I was sweating!! Even though I had taken my jacket off. I would have taken my vest off but I had to have the pocket for my phone. But then once we took our hack, I was sweaty and cold. ;)

It was cold enough that Funny was barely sweaty and I put her blanket back on for the ride home. Not the back on track!

I think next weekend we'll do a lesson with Kelly! Or the ride-a-test, but hopefully a lesson.
