Welcome 2026!

Welcome 2026!!! I pray that this year is full of hope, dreams fulfilled, and sound and happy ponies! And we're off to a good start!

I got up semi-early and ran over to Hard Labor to get a trail pass for the year. I managed to get home just in time to grab Funny, load up and get to Hard Labor to meet friends. I rode with Jenny and two other endurance riders. I wasn't sure how it was going to go, but it went well. :)

It was a little tricky because Funny had a MUCH bigger trot than all of them, and a bigger walk than some of them. But then the gaited pony was much quicker at the walk. We mostly walked and did a little bit of trotting. They mostly let me lead because when we were behind (aside from the gaited thing at the walk) we were crawling up the other horses backside and I was having to hold her back. Except when I led, I didn't know where we were going and I didn't know how much trotting they wanted to do. Ha! Probably more than I could ever think... they are endurance riders! But I didn't know. Plus I wasn't sure of the terrain. And then we kept leaving them in the dust. ha ha. Plus it was a little slick. But we had fun and everyone was a good sport.

There was one point where Funny and I were second and the girl ahead of us ducked under a very small overhanging tree. Funny and I were way too tall to duck so I ducked and also lifted the branch above me. Except, apparently that caused the tree to basically fall! It landed right behind Funny's tail and she scooted. I was afraid that I had dropped it on Jenny behind me but luckily she was far enough back. We all had a good laugh. Luckily!

It was a fun day and a good way to start the new year. I told them they should all come ride at Ashland with me sometime too, because there was wider spots and they could potentially open up more. So we shall see.

Happy 2026! The year of the Fire Horse!
