Easter Bunny

Funny and I had our Liz lesson today. And we saw the Easter Bunny... bunnies. Ha ha. My back corner of my pasture is like bunny haven. It makes me happy. And luckily Funny didn't spook at them.

We had a good lesson. As usual. We worked on using only one rein, instead of two. Two reins makes her mad and is just hanging.. but a one rein half halt or aid is an aid... and she has an out. So we worked on using the outside rein (ideally, but sometimes the inside rein) as an aid that something is coming... and to rebalance and then if I continue, to do a downward transition. It was much better and more effective than me just pulling on both reins and or willy nilly pulling on the reins. Cool!

We also did some leg yields to the left and some half passes to the right to help get her body straight. We played with the trot and canter transitions. And my aids for each need to be slightly different. From the walk.. collect it and then just allow the trot. I don't have to ask for a trot, because it's too loud and it becomes explosive. If I allow it, it's lovely. Then for the canter, get a nice trot, collect it a little, sit to the inside, open my outside hip, keep looking to the outside, and lightly/softly ask for the canter. We got some nice transitions. Then when coming back down.. do my one rein half halt (outside rein) and collect with my core and then repeat the half halt as needed til we get the downward.

It was a good ride and she was a good pony.

She had a nice roll after our ride too :)
