Such a good girl

Well that was a fun ride! Minus the heat and humidity. Ugh. I was planning to meet Sharon at Ashland with Dan to ride at noon, so I had to ride one of the girls first this morning. I opted for Lyric... not sure why. Maybe because she has the show coming up I guess. I slept in a tiny bit and luckily Jean wasn't using the aena this morning so I was able to use it and still make it to Ashland on time. Right after I finished getting dressed and brushing my teeth, the power went out. At least it was after I finished in the bathroom. But it meant I had to feed the ponies with the stored water. Sorry guys! It still wasn't back on by the time they finished eating and I had eaten a bowl of cereal.

I tacked Lyric up and she wasn't sweaty yet at least but man it was hot and humid for only being 9ish. We headed up to the arena and had a fabulous ride. She was so good! We worked on all the things we've been working on and it was paying off. She was mostly light and soft in the connection. She was balanced and forward and not sluggish or behind my leg. She was even in both reins and her left bend was better even. Of course there were moments where we lost it... and one long minute where she got carried away and started plowing along on the forehand and then lost her hind end. But overall, she was really nice!! We even cantered the cross rail four times and twice she jumped it on a slightly long spot (for her) out of stride and twice she added nicely but without the hesitation feel. And I stayed in the backseat all four times, so yay for both of us! We did some walk and trot poles too.

It was just such a lovely ride overall. Yay! We hacked back and luckily when we got back the power was back on, so she was able to get a bath. Good because she and I both were soooo sweaty. I had to keep wiping sweat from my eyes while we were riding. So humid! I'm so over it! Lyric too. But she at least got a nice bath.
