Battle Royale

oooooh boy! Today was a day! Funny is FERAL! I joked and told her that "If you are anything like your brother, which ha!! You're exactly like him.... that means we've got 3.5 more years of this!". Send help!! Ha ha. I know she's a teenager, but she is just... feral! Maybe it's going off the regumate? Although Dan was like this too and he didn't get any hormones. And she's been feral all along.. it just seems extra bad this week but maybe it's weather related. Or age. Or both. Or both and hormones.

Anyways... I rode her at home today too. We got on at the trailer and rode up the driveway to the arena. She was good but motoring! We warmed up with some turn on the forehands, some leg yields, and a halt or two. She was great. So then we picked up the trot and she just motored!! Quick and running! I tried my best to slow my rhythm and thus hers. I tried so hard to do our homework, like the cloverleaf. But she's so hard! It's like... she goes from not bending around my inside leg to slinging away from my inside leg. But then she wants to overbend in the neck and not go into the outside rein. But we tried! We tried the cloverleaf pattern and it did help some. But she was just so animated! So animated. And so fishy! Body parts were flinging everywhere... she was running away with me essentially. I had to slam her to a halt a few times even. Like... girl.. you cannot just run... you have to let me half halt!! I tried so hard to be kind and soft, but I really just had to have a "come to jesus" ride with her. Sigh... which then makes me feel awful. I really hate to haul on her mouth, but... I just got to the point where I didn't have any other tools.

We did manage to get a somewhat happy ending with a good circle each way. It was tenuous, but..we got it. I rewarded her with a jump over the vertical and the cross rail which made her happy. And then we were done. Jeepers girl. It makes me giggle a little bit that my self propelled jet engine powered thoroughbred.. is actually my hanoverian/appy. She is way more self propelled and forward than Lyric! And walking home, she was motoring so much that she really felt like she was kicking me in the bum with her hind legs, they were reaching up so powerfully!

Good thing you're pretty! And really, she is fun! And, she did NOT try to dump me, so at least there's that. :) :)
