First Haircut!

 Well... I was debating whether I should go school XC today with Funny. I didn't want to overdo it, make her tired, and stress her too much. She's already been hauled to Ashland 3 days this week and today would have been the 3rd day in a row being ridden and in a trailer. And I don't expect her to really give me too much trouble with the jumps, though they may be a bit bigger than I anticipate, but I still won't think it'll matter to her. Me perhaps, but not her. BUT... I was also wanting to go because it would have been fun and I wanted her to see the atmosphere. So I was torn but then Kloie offered to hack around with me while I schooled, so I was going to go. But then this morning Peri went to the hospital for pain so bad she could hardly breathe so I went to her house to feed Pixie and let her out. And... I was dumb and took her off the leash so she could chase the cat a little and then I had to spend over an hour following her in circles around the house because I couldn't catch her, she wouldn't come to me, and I couldn't get her in the house! I wanted to cry! I finally got her in, but by then... no time to get to Chatt! 

So... I had lunch and then decided it was warm enough to bathe and clip Funny. After I talked to Liz. ;) So she got a bath and then we did a few minutes of grazing in the sun, some pillar work in the culdesac, some more grazing and then I adjusted her and trimmed her mane. Then she got a hair cut. Her first hair cut. I may have clipped a swipe once or twice (max!) when she was a baby but I never got around to "clipper training" her. My bad. But she was perfect!

She stood and let me clip most of her body without any fussing. She was a bit fussy near her ears but not nearly as bad as Dan about it. And I did practice a cupcake on her shoulder and it came out okay! But then it got clipped off because of her cut and when I did it on her butt, it wasn't as good or as obvious. Boo. Oh well. I may end up eventually cutting the rest of her and doing a full clip, in which case maybe a hairy cupcake on the other side will show up better??

But she was so good. Then she tried to roll so I had to chase her out of the roundpen... You can roll but NOT in the red clay! So then she ran around like a fool. But I think she stayed clean. I debated riding because I am wondering if she'll be goofy tomorrow with her hair cut. But I didn't so I guess I'll find out tomorrow. ;) 

She got all bundled up tonight in the smartpak jammies. I hope tomorrow goes well!
