Today was jump day! We headed to Ashland and had the whole farm to ourselves! Ooooh, just how we like it! It was a gorgeous day too!
We started off with a warm up hack and headed to the lake. There were sooooo many turtles soaking up the sun and then plopping back in the water. We headed from the lake to the cross country field. And while we were there, we did the banks, ditches, and water. She still wants to stop before going into the water. Silly girl! We are still struggling with the banks in and out of the water too, but fair enough. That's not an easy question. So we'll keep practicing til it's not so scary. We eventually got it and it didn't take that long. So then we went to jump the triple log and she stopped. Really?? Sigh.. I just need to ride. She jumped it fine the second approach. We did another few jumps and then headed to stadium.
We had a fairly decent jump school. She even trotted some! Well, trotted between the jumps... But still! That's progress! She was swapping behind some though. I'm not sure if it's her ovaries bothering her... ulcers.... her stifles?? Ugh.
So then we went back to the trails and trotted some in the fields. When we got to the lake she stopped short and I looked and there were two separate geese couples. One in the lake and one at the edge. Funny's not usually scared of the geese, but apparently we interrupted something. We kept our distance and the one set of geese was hissing and squawking at the other couple and then they started chasing each other and honking. We just stood back and watched and finally they all got in the lake and swam far enough off that we felt comfortable walking in the lake. Ha ha. Smart girl! Them geese were gonna brawl. Ha ha. We had a nice uneventful hack back.
