legit now though.. microchipped. good girl for it
lesson at barbaras. hard lines. Angled lines. started out feral... we were actually able to trot but lots of bucking, rearing, propping, etc. sideways. did trot the cross rail arcs and were good. then did a mini course with bendy lines and arcs. And she was just running and strung out. taking down almost every rail. Finally took a shorter rein and rode her barrel and got her more compacted. really cool to feel her hind end come up and under.
then did hard angles... slicing the jumps. not really a line but made it a line. and first time through.. good and got it done. second time it unraveled and then it just fell apart. dropped the fences and finished with it twice, but... not a fun lesson. But only because I hate sucking and i felt like i sucked too. I didn't give her a great ride. and she was feral too.. extra feral today. but it was good in the sense that we finally found something funny found hard. and we know what hole we have to fix. and, laura suggested it was fine the first time through because I had to steer and funny wasn't sure what was happening but then it was hard and she got mad and didn't want to follow directions anymore and then it unraveled.
shorter reins so I can not let her get so long and strung out.
low hands, and alternating half halts vs just hanging on her. especially with shorter reins.
ride her barrel and make her step up and under with her hind end and that compresses her more than the reins do. yes, use my leg on her barrel even when she's "bolting" feeling.
gotta work on slicing and angles and keeping her between the aids. but we can and will. we have time.
so nice to hang out with laura and jacel again though. I've missed them so!
