in heat. but had a great lesson. Started quite nice as we got going. got the trot pretty quickly. but then jean's horses got stupid... came screaming and galloping up... then jean was walking around yelling.. and her dogs... had to take a moment. funny settled and went back to work. Then got frustrated we weren't cantering and started propping and bucking... but de-escalated real quick.
wide hands.. when I get wonky, I go tighter instead of wider. At one point I thought my hands were wide open, like full spread. Ha ha. But it does give her an out. Also open and relax my hips. Don't clamp with my thighs. stay "behind the energy". and it improved pretty quickly. Also, make her leg yield out as she was falling hard into my left leg today.
played with the circle... liz gave me "cones" and man... that made it obvious how much our circles aren't circles and how she consistently falls in in spots and falls out in others. But it did help me ride more correctly and we got some really nice trot and bend.
canter wasn't glorious but had a few good steps and we got some good down transitions. She had me ride her "up" like we were coming to a 8' fence. And then it shortened her and then I asked for more and she did a lovely downard. yay.
We also did some sitting trot work.. it's becoming a tool to settle her and I"m getting better and better at it.
finished with a lovely canter... to a lovely sitting trot... to almost trotting in place. Felt more like a paso fino then a passage this time, but it made me giggle. Her back really came up some today and she got so light and fluffy. good pony!!Then she was sassy, and liz commented that it was her celebrating how good she was.. not her being naughty. :) Fair enough. Allowed.
goood girl
