Soooo jumpy!

And not the good kind. Ha ha. We dressaged today. I spent the day at the lake on the jetski's with Mike for our 23rd anniversary. And because it's a lovely day to be on a jetski. It was a bit choppy though and I had to ride out some bucks. ;)

But we managed to get home with enough time to ride, so I grabbed FuFu and we got tacked up. Except a car drove past and she jumped while I was picking out her foot and slid it down my ankle. It hurt!! Ugh. Then she was distracted and wouldn't pick her foot up so I tapped her with my hoof pick and she jumped again like I had shocked her. Okay girl.. chill out! I got tacked up and got on and we headed up to the arena. She was fussy and wanted to go join the others in the dog pen pasture so I had to get after her a tiny bit. But we made it to the arena. And then as we were doing our walk warm up, two deer moved out and she jumped and spun. Okay... that was legit, but dang!! And then after we picked up the trot, she jumped at something and slammed on the breaks and I managed to jam my pinky in her neck. Again. Okay.. THIS is why all my fingers randomly hurt I guess. Sigh... Luckily that seemed to be the last of the spooks.

We had an okay ride. It started well and finished well but got a little icky in the middle. She started with a nice walk and we got some nice walk to trot to walk transitions. Then we got some okay trot and then it got icky. She just doesn't want to bend left and got quick again. I tried the things... wide hands... slow my post... make my post smaller... squeeze with my thighs... sit trot... but it was still quick. So then we did figure 8 serpentines to see if that would help. And it kind of did. So then we did some canter and it was pretty decent. But then she got quick again. So, we went back to canter to trot to canter to trot to canter transitions and things got better. We finished with some really lovely trot work and even played a little bit with some lengthens. They weren't great. We had one decent one but the rest just got quicker. But we tried. And, like I said, at the very end, we got some really lovely sitting trot to posting trot and a nice halt.

Then we did the gate and she was decent. It took longer than it could have and she wasn't smooth and flowing but we got it done. Good pony.

Oh, and last nights sunset was spectacular! Mike told me I was missing it so I rushed out. I went to the field to take photos and Funny just wanted to cuddle. Or get scratched. ;) She's so cute. She kept following me... so I'd scratch her some more. Awww, I love her!
