Trail dressage

Today wasn't as hot as I was expecting. Thank God! There was a lovely breeze. So we headed to Ashland to do a hack and maybe some dressage. I figured if it was too hot, we could book the covered arena and get in some dressage. But if it was bearable, then we'd tough it out in the regular sandbox. Or in the field.

We ended up hacking and doing some light fitness work. We trotted the gallop track in 6.18 minutes. She was going!! I couldn't really get her rocked back so I just let her roll on. I did manage to get her more balanced and settled in a few spots, but mostly she was cruising. We hacked over to the cross country field and ended up doing some dressage out there. She was still feral. ugh! Why are we struggling again? I did finally get some nice canter and then a nice trot.

We also practiced the water up bank too... the almost walk. And that was good. Then we had a nice polite canter in the field to the lake but then she got quick again. And then she tripped and slipped and almost face planted! Thank goodness she's catty. After that she listened to some half halts and we ended with a nice soft and balanced canter.
